He Smiles

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

He smiles.  At 16 days old! I got him naked and he smiled. I put him in a waste basket and he smiled. I wrapped him in blue spandex and he smiled.

He is also my very best sleeper to date, which makes for better newborn portraits. Gold star for the little man.

Um, pretty sure eight graders were not this good looking when I was 14 years old!   Gallery before the weekend, guys!

Super Glue

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

I have added superglue boo-boo to the long and mind-boggling list of 'fixes' while editing pictures (including goose eggs, Crayola marker-itis, bruises, bumps, sparkly eyeshadows disasters, and LOTS of Easter egg dye messes).  Little brother found out that superglue and skin should not mix.

This lesson learned did not stop Little D from being adorable.  Big D brought his 'adorable' with him to the park as well. Big D is the most natural presence in front of the camera.  His features are perfect, his body language is perfect, his complexion is perfect.   Check them out:

Seriously. Perfect face.

They make me happy

Monday, November 9th, 2009

This four & five year old duo make me so happy.  They are cheerful, smart, polite, well-mannered kids, who just instantly started posing and hamming it up.  So appreciated.  They brought along their new brother and parents to hang at the park.

Today was the most perfect autumn day for an outdoor session.  Perfect leaves, temperature, and lighting made for a beautiful setting.

Wish there was a spot on the "Firsts" page in E's baby book for "First time a strange lady with a black box over her face put me on a crunchy pile of leaves."  That was me, and Baby E did NOT care for the experience.

Thank you. Thank you very much.

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

These simple words sparked an Elvis Presley interest in my oldest, Big B.  He heard the words, "Thank you. Thank you very much" in that distinctive voice and started asking his usual rapid fire questions: "Who is that? Have I seen any movies? How old is he? Does he live in Hollywood?"

So we googled Elvis, and listened to some songs, and the interest kept growing.  Big B found out that my aunt, Crazy Sherry, was President of the Elvis Presley fan club back in the day.  Then my parents went to Graceland and brought him souvenirs of the King.  Then he asked for Elvis songs on the ipod, and told everyone we know about the KIng of Rock and Roll.

About a week after Halloween last year, Big B decided that his NEXT costume would be of his hero, and he stuck to it.  The jailhouse rock versus white jumpsuit debate was a big one, let me tell you.  Now if only he could coordinate the hip shake and the lip curl!

Christmas Ornament Giveaway!

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

****Congrats to 'mommyjan' for winning the custom ornament!*******

I have purchased 14 Christmas presents already. All retail stores are totally into the holiday season now that Halloween is over.  My kids have composed about eighteen letters to Santa.

In my overworked, messy mind, this means it's time for a Christmas giveaway!  These ornaments are cut crystal, ready to hang, and sell for $25.  They come in bell, heart, or oval shapes, and can be made from any good quality jpeg photo.  They are about 4 inches tall.

How to win? Leave a comment on this blog post telling me what your favorite ornament is (mine are the kissy face fish ornaments that we received as a wedding gift).  One entry per email. Contest ends Friday at noon.  You do not have to live in Tulsa or be a current client, just have to have a high quality digital pic to email me.
