Merry Christmas from the Millers

Friday, December 25th, 2009

I went with over-the-top obnoxious red and green for my Christmas card this year, after a few years of non-traditional colors.  Bought the Hanna Andersson jammies (for the weiner dog too) and had a fun shoot with my kiddos.

Merry Christmas to all!

It All Came Back to Me

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

My ice skating skills came back to me after a couple decades break from this activity.  I grew up one block away from an ice skating rink, where I spent many weekends during the cold months.  My friends and I would skate, visit the snack bar, and giggle over the cute boys.   We wore our big Forenza sweaters with our big Aqua Net hair at Ak-Sar-Ben — ahhh, the memories!

My family spent the weekend in Kansas City, which remains our favorite quickie get-away place.  I took all three kids to the ice skating rink at Crown Center for their first skating adventure.  Once I stepped onto the ice, it all came back to me…..no falls for this former pro! Teaching three kids to skate on my own was quite the challenge, but we had so much fun.  This might become a new holiday tradition (along with carriage ride through the Plaza to admire Christmas lights).

Take a look at our adventure below.  If the photos seem shaky, it's because a three year old was clinging to my legs for dear life.

No entertainment needed. He cracks himself up, with the maniacal laughter of an eight-year-old.

Deep Thoughts with Grandma

"She's not the happiest crayon in the box."

My mom's observation while spending a long weekend with my notoriously moody daughter.
