Christmas Card Session

Tuesday, December 9th, 2014

My punks, all dressed up in Christmas colors!   These were taken down the block at a fence line that I ooh and aah over every time I walk by.  Merry Christmas from the Miller Family!

My Niece

My niece was willing to pose in the snow on her Thanksgiving visit.  She is beautiful inside and out.

A throwback session at the horse farm fence behind our neighborhood.    These show his personality so well, and I have already framed one for the house.

Happy Halloween

Friday, October 31st, 2014

Our first Halloween up north also coincided with the first snow up north! Made for a very cold trick-or-treating.  Happy Halloween from my gorilla, Frankengirl, and werewolf.

Miller Kids

Saturday, July 14th, 2012

Every Easter, I take portraits of my own kiddos.  I shot these in April, but am a bit behind in blogging and printing.  My gang is always impatient and annoyed during photo shoots with me, because I *might* make them pose too often.  This location is tucked away behind the playground of our neighborhood park.  The reward (playing and basketball) was soooo close that this session was actually a success.

A Good Lookin’ Rainbow

My new favorite shot of the cousins (ages 12, 11, 8, 7, 7, 5).   Guess what Grandma’s getting for Christmas?

Total Failure

Saturday, November 19th, 2011

Family portraits are difficult to coordinate, shop for, and execute.  There is so much pressure to create a lasting family portrait in an hour time frame.   I get that.  Fortunately, I usually get the easy part of that equation: photography.

When I have to shop,  dress, and pretty up three children (who already have a camera in their face daily), it’s like a total failure waiting to happen.  And my Christmas card shoot was a total failure, indeed.  Miss J did not want her hair brushed.  She wanted to wear the orange Halloween shirt that she finds no matter how many times I bury it at the bottom of her dresser.  E-Man was pouting because the shirt was fancy (ie: buttons) and the jeans were scratchy.  Big B slicked his hair down with half a bottle of Crew, then busted out his “I-will-smile-my-cheesiest-smile-so-Mom-is-happy” smile.

The session ended in less than ten minutes, after my entertainer (photo above) started doing the hustle against the wall and waving to every passing car.   Attempt number two is planned.  Wish me luck!

My sister’s family came to visit over Thanksgiving weekend, and we went to my favorite park for a family session.   Photographing family is stressful….they are way too familiar with me and my ‘just one more picture’ refrain.   I was very happy with the results of our hour at Woodward, however.   Have a look at my nieces and nephew below.  You can leave them some blog love by clicking the word ‘Comments’ under the portraits.  Thanks for looking!

Cousin Week

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Every summer, my sister and I trade kids for a few days to allow for more cousin time while school is out.  This week, my nieces and nephew visited  T-Town.  We have bowled and mini-golfed, had movie and dance parties, and created lots of crafts.  So many memories were made, and that sure beats the exhaustion I’m feeling right about now!

Have a peek at the cousins:

And the whole gang (ages 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10), in a disastrous photo shoot full of whining, bug bites, and bunny ears every two seconds:
